Author’s Annotations: As this particular version of Perils On Planet X was originally written with a three-issue comic book series format in mind, I chose to follow the old fashioned tradition of beginning each chapter with a brief recap of events for the reader. These days, these sorts of recaps aren’t done very often, as the publishers and editors assume that every reader is buying every issue and doesn’t need to be reminded of what’s come before. There’s also a feeling that such moments of reflection interrupt the flow of the narrative when the story is ultimately collected into a single volume.
I happen to disagree on all points; so… I wrote a recap.
In retrospect, it’s probably yet another reason I’m not writing comic books for the big boys.

Well said, sir.
Well said, indeed. I too disagree on all points and I too like to do things just the way I like to do them. This often includes artifacts to which any BigTime Publisher would simply say “Hell, no.”
BUT, I still cling to the notion that we make comics (and have done so since we were kids) because we want to see the things and tell the stories that we want to see and tell. And this is not based on someone else’s idea of what other people will purchase.
