It’s been kinda quiet around here of late – hopefully that means everyone’s enjoying what we’re doing. We’re in the home stretch now. In just a couple of months, we’ll be wrapping up this first adventure of Colonel Donovan Hawke of Terra on the lost planet of Xylos.
After that? Well, we honestly don’t know.
We have some very tentative plans; for one thing, we definitely intend to do a collected print edition of this first graphic novel… we just haven’t decided exactly on what form that will take yet.
We’ve also been discussing whether or not we’ll be continuing Perils On Planet X immediately, or if we’ll take a break. This comic has literally been years in the making, and it’s very time – and resource – consuming. Not to mention exhausting.
A lot depends on how much demand there is for more adventures… and that’s been a bit difficult to determine. Traffic numbers vary a lot from week-to-week, and only a few diehards post comments here on a regular basis. So, I guess what I’m saying, is that if you want us to keep going, sound off.
I’ll keep you posted on our comic plans – and some other things we’ve been thinking about – in the next few weeks.

I, for one, am loving what you guys are doing. Epic sci-fi adventures are my favorite, even if I have only recently really started to expand my horizons beyond Star Wars, Trek, and the like. I am excited for a new panel each week and am saddened when there is not one. The story never seems to go where I think it will and I love being on my toes. The art is fluid and dynamic. The amount of detail put into the alien worlds, creatures, characters, and vehicles is astounding. The weirdness of Baron Drykos to the beauty of Odyri to the silent strength of Hawke to the cunning and power of Valkia: all are instantly shown through the art. I would know these things even without the words.
So the point of this comment: I have to have more. I will be first to buy the collected edition and I will be waiting not-so-patiently for any adventures you want to do beyond. Thank you for letting me read this each and every week. it really picks up my day.
Well, this looks bad but it’s better than where the sword fight ending was headed. Kind of reminds me of the Saturday matinees I used to watch at the local movie theater in the 1950s. The hero is doomed, no he escapes, no he is doomed again, “Whoop!” he got out of that jam. Oh no we have to wait for the next exciting episode. Thanks for the fun.
The resemblance to classic movie serials is intentional. We’re also following the conventions of the genre (especially as established by Edgar Rice Burroughs and his imitators): luck – good and bad – plays a large part in the proceedings.
This is a great comic! I really look forward to reading it each week.
Loving the weekly episodes, just like the old black and white serials! Hope you continue the story or continue with something similar once this runs finishes. And definitely put me down for a printed volume of Donovan Hawke’s adventures!

I enjoy the comic and will buy a collected edition. I wish you could put out more faster to move the story along quicker in real life, but completely understand that’s impossible. Keep going at any speed and I’ll keep reading!

I am following diligently and am always glad when I notice a new page is up. It’s in my top 10 of the many webcomics I follow for the combo of good art and good story line.

Hi there! I’ve been a fan of Perils since wayyy back in the days of “Lair of the Science-Witch”, and just re-discovered this site. You can imagine how thrilled I was to see a whole YEARS’ worth of pages built-up for me to read! I’m really enjoying the story and I would absolutely buy a print version — I can think of a few friends who would love to read it. So yes, please keep ’em coming!

That said, I pronounce it “oh-die-ree.”
